A 12-year-old boy has been given “strong words of advice”, after gaining entry to a home in Mitcham to fire an air rifle at bins

Last Wednesday afternoon, a 33-year-old woman sustained an injury after being hit by an unknown projectile.

Then in the evening, a man had been shot in the thigh, but saw an air rifle poking out of a window.

The 12-year-old had entered via the back of the house, which was insecure, and was “remorseful of his actions”.

Neither victim needed medical attention.
