It’s campaigning against car idling, and is speaking to businesses including the Eco Park on Charlton Lane about queuing customers.
The authority also has government funding to encourage taxi companies to take up electric vehicles.
Councillor Ian Beardsmore says it’s a “completely unnecessary and entirely preventable source of air pollution”.
