We’re being reminded to give horses a wide berth on the roads, to avoid injury to the rider or animal.

Epsom Police have been around the Grandstand, and found some drove aggressively because they objected to the animal’s presence on the highway.

A number were stopped because they drove too close to the animals, and given advice as well as a leaflet.

The force says that “for the most part” drivers were “courteous and accommodating”.
