A British Airways and Virgin Atlantic plane have touched down in New York nearly two years after the US imposed a coronavirus travel ban.

The rival airlines operated a synchronised departure from Heathrow Airport to celebrate the lifting of restrictions - fully-vaccinated passengers from the UK can now enter the States.

The chief executive of Virgin Atlantic has hailed it as a "day of celebration".
