A Conservative MP says she's lost her job as an aide to the communities secretary after refusing to vote for a controversial move last night

Angela Richardson went against the government, as they voted not to suspend their colleague, Owen Paterson, for breaking lobbying rules.

Instead they forced through an overhaul of the disciplinary procedure.

Meanwhile, Wimbledon Tory MP Stephen Hammond abstained, saying it “gave the impression of a special process for one individual”.

He adds that these matters are usually decided on a free vote basis, rather than parties telling their MPs how to vote.
