Hi-tech sensors are being fitted in more homes across Surrey following a successful trial in Mole Valley

The aim of the pilot, which involved 53 elderly residents, was to enable them to live independently and stay in their homes longer.

Fitted to appliances like kettles, the sensors are used to monitor movement without the need for cameras or microphones.

The information is then fed into a central system which sounds an alarm if necessary and alerts a health care worker.
