The Prime Minister insists Christmas in the UK should go ahead "as normally as possible" despite rising cases of the new Omicron variant of coronavirus.

 The Republic of Ireland's announced it's introducing tougher restrictions - closing nightclubs and limiting the number of households who can meet indoors.

But Boris Johnson doesn't think this is necessary - and says the current measures in England are enough.


There are now 104 confirmed cases of Omicron in England with one case found in Spelthorne.

Surrey County Council and the Borough Council are working closely with the UK Health Security Agency to ensure that all contact tracing and appropriate Public Health actions, such as increased testing, take place.
