NHS England says there’s been a huge rise in the number of people checking for bowel cancer symptoms.

It follows the death of Dame Deborah James who was diagnosed with the condition in 2016.

The 40-year-old podcaster, who lived in Barnes, died on Tuesday.

The health service says more than 20 thousand visited its website for bowel cancer on Wednesday, up from 2 thousand the day before.
