Officers arrested two men after the incident in Gatley Avenue last night which saw road closures and the use of the helicopter, dogs and armed police.
42-year-old Damian Dolor from Epsom was reported to have threatened others with a knife.
The man who was hit with a baton round was taken to hospital with bruising to his stomach and was later discharged.
