Plans for a new state of the art hospital in Sutton have been approved meaning Epsom and St Helier will lose major services.

A&E, critical care and maternity units are among those to be consolidated in a 500-million-pound investment.

The decision’s provoked mixed reaction.

Epsom and Ewell councillor, Barry Nash, welcomes the funding but is disappointed the new unit will be built outside the borough.

Part of the money will go to improving transport between all three sites.
