Surrey police say they’ve had more than 20 reports this month of calls from scammers claiming, falsely, to work for Amazon Prime.

Potential victims are told they’ll be charged a subscription, usually £79.99 unless they provide their bank details and install an app on their phones to stop the payments

The scammers are then able to the money from their accounts.

Police are warning people to be wary of calls about subscriptions and never hand over their bank details. They say victims in other parts of the UK have lost devastating sums.
