Heathrow's boss is urging the government to fast track a coronavirus test which gives results in 20 seconds

Chief executive John Holland-Kaye says the new Virolens test, which launched on Wednesday after a three-week trial at the airport, is "quicker" than the government's preferred lab tests, and "potentially more accurate".

Scientists are criticising apparent government plans for mass coronavirus testing in the UK which could cost 100 billion pounds a year.

Leaked documents seen by the British Medical Journal show reported proposals for up to ten million tests a day, to help life return to normal.

Rising numbers of cases mean that in England from Monday, no more than 6 people can meet.
