South Western Railway is considering reducing the number of peak time trains from Ashtead and Epsom into Waterloo

The operator has launched a consultation alongside Network Rail to gauge public feeling.

The amount of trains would be reduced from 6 to 4 an hour from December next year as part of a “post-pandemic” timetable.

Epsom MP, Chris Grayling, says this is based on an assumption considerably fewer people will be commuting going forward.

He’s told train bosses this new plan is unworkable.
