The results of an inquest on Thursday declared the deaths of seven people in the crash as accidental. 

The union is supporting families and calling for more witnesses from management, Transport for London and safety experts.

Its also demanding a separate enquiry into the relationship between financial targets and accidents causing injuries or deaths from TfL.

The challenge encourages youngsters aged 4 to 11 years-old to enjoy the benefits of reading for pleasure during the summer holidays.

This year the challenge has a nature theme aiming to inspire children to stand up for the planet.

They’ll be directed to books about how they can make their communities a cleaner and greener place for people and wildlife

A third man then called and claimed to be a police officer, and that the victim needed to go to Hammersmith and collect money.

The mother of Mark Smith, one of the victims, said “justice has been suffocated”.

Jean Smith, whose son was 35 when he died, called the inquest into the deaths a “farce” and said she was “bitterly disappointed” not to hear evidence from management at Transport for London.

Industry bosses have warned that supply chains are "starting to fail."

She jumped in but got stuck herself, and two men jumped into the water and saved the family.

Amnesty International says the government's Nationality and Borders Bill will only bring more "chaos and delay" to the UK's immigration system.

It would allow the UK to send asylum seekers to a "safe third country" and to submit claims at a "designated place" determined by the secretary of state. 

The news comes after hundreds of people arrived on the shores on Kent in one day on Monday. 

Meanwhile, Croydon Council is urging the Home Office to address a funding gap in the cost of caring for unaccompanied children seeking asylum. 

Over the last decade the borough has taken in more than 5,000 unaccompanied asylum-seeking children. 

They register in the United Kingdom via a Home Office immigration centre, Lunar House,  in Croydon town centre. 

Central government is expected to fund most of councils’ unaccompanied asylum-seeking children’s costs. 

But since 2015 Croydon has paid an excess every year of between £7m and £9m to top up the funding received from the Home Office. 

The council is also calling on the Home Office to make it mandatory for councils nationwide to share the responsibility for new arrivals.

Under government guidelines, unaccompanied asylum-seeking children arrivals should make up 0.07% of each host council’s child population, with councils nationwide taking in the rest. 

If these guidelines were followed, Croydon would have responsibility for 66 unaccompanied asylum-seeking children. 

However, there are currently 205 unaccompanied asylum-seeking children being cared for by Croydon Council, plus 439 care leavers who arrived unaccompanied. 

This is over 40% of all children and young people the council looks after.

The National Transfer Scheme (NTS) is currently voluntary, which means other councils are not required to take in children from gateway councils like Croydon or Kent.

Croydon says its annual funding gap to support unaccompanied asylum-seeking children is financially unsustainable and, if left unaddressed, will in future years pose serious risk to the borough’s children’s services.

The report adds that 24 other London authorities have agreed to help ease Croydon’s unaccompanied asylum-seeking children costs by taking caring responsibility for new arrivals in the borough for the next three months. 

After 20 years of being banned due to worries about CJD, people are now allowed to donate again.

Andrew Gibb runs Twickenham donor centre, and says this to anyone on the fence about donating.

The National Crime Agency says the alleged ringleader of the network was among seven people arrested.

The operation focused on migrant workers being smuggled into the UK from Albania. 

Investigators believe the alleged smugglers had contacts across Europe and used lorries and hired vans to transport people. 

31 year old Mario Chambers and 35 year old Robert Packer have been sentenced to a total of more than 50 months in prison. 

The pair were arrested in November after officers were called to reports of a man being seriously assaulted at a residential address in Monks Way. 

The victim was found by a member of the public in a pool of blood and unconscious. 

Chambers and Packer were identified as the suspects and located at a nearby flat with visible minor facial injuries. 

They were arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.

Further enquiries and interviews revealed that the pair had been drinking with two victims throughout the afternoon. 

Chambers punched one of them in the face in an unprovoked assault. 

The pair, who were becoming aggressive, were then asked to leave the address. 

However, shortly afterwards they returned and started to attack the other victim by hitting him over the head with a vodka bottle and stamping on him whilst he lay on the floor. 

The pair then ran off, leaving both victims injured and extremely shaken. 

He pleaded guilty to six counts of making threats with a bladed article in a public place, criminal damage, burglary and theft. 

Ajbeer entered a shop on Battersea Park Road in October, went behind the counter, picking up a knife which he used to threaten store workers before being chased away. 

He didn’t stop there, going into a supermarket on Battersea Park Road to steal a bottle of vodka with the knife in his hand. 

Once outside, he approached a woman and ran after her. 

He grabbed hold of her, pulled clothing from her and held a knife over her as she lay on the ground before he was chased away by members of the public. 

His rampage continued on to Falcon Road,  where he stabbed at the window of a car, causing it to shatter, before threatening two women outside a pub on Falcon Road, pinning one to the floor.

 The events culminated when he attempted to stab a woman and threatened another before several members of the public intervened and detained him. 

Officers arrived on scene and arrested Ajbeer.

 Daya Mohindra was initially worried about doing a course in digital skills due to her age.

However, she was supported by her family and the tutors at Learn Hounslow, who helped her develop the skills to take the class online.

When I joined Happy’s Circus in 2006 it changed my whole life. Not only did I get to perform every day. I also got the great satisfaction from our shows raising money for schools. The new life opened my eyes up to the world and helped me perform and grow as a person. 

Happy's Circus is so rewarding as you can see the children’s faces light up, especially now after they have been closed in for so long. The PTAs at the schools just love the joy it brings.

I feel when we come to the South London areas, we are bringing children something I never had at school. A little bit of magic, and a lot of inspiration and hope.

A young female was walking alone on a public footpath near Philip Southcote School when she was approached.

A man tried grab her from over a fence and put his hand over her mouth. The victim managed to escape and the suspect fled the scene.

He is described as white, aged 20 to 30-years-old with short, light brown hair of medium build, in dark clothes and white trainers.

Police say they believe the man riding it, stopped to apologise to her mother, but perhaps didn't realise how seriously hurt she was.

The Metropolitan force is urging him to come forward after the incident in Myatts Field Park, in Lambeth yesterday morning.

He ascended the 4,000 metre-high mountains during a seven day challenge which also included a 90k alpine run.

Pop up mobile testing sites will be set up at various locations, starting outside Croydon Voluntary Action, every Wednesday and Friday.

A team from the council will offer a rapid lateral flow test on the day, with results provided in 30 minutes.
