A proposal for the management of the Cecil Hepworth Playhouse has been approved by Elmbridge Borough Council which owns the site.

Members of the Wimbledon-based Communication Workers Union are walking out in their sixth day of action in recent months.

Royal Mail says the strike action "threatens the job security" of its staff.

Dave Ward, the union's general secretary, says that's unacceptable.

Councillors say significant Government funding and a quicker recovery from key revenue streams like car parking were key factors.

The installation comes at no cost to the council or residents.

Users only pay if they choose to sign up to faster internet speeds offered at varied price packages depending on the provider.

Nearly 6,000 dangerous vapes, containing up to eight times more e-liquid than is allowed, have been confiscated since last December. 

The total selling price of the seized items is estimated to be in the region of £55,000. 

The authority says the vapes are often marketed towards children and are dangerous.

At around 8pm last night, police received an anonymous call making a threat towards the venue, where Iranian singer Dariush was playing.
